    Founded in 1905, the Elyria Country Club offers a William Flynn-designed, 18-hole golf course along the Black River. In addition, there are an excellent pool for the family, a fitness center, tennis courts, a driving range, banquet rooms, meeting facilities, and casual dining.

  • Emerald Woods Golf Club

    12501 N. Boone Rd., Columbia Station Western Suburbs

    Emerald Woods is a challenging 45-hole golf course, with two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole executive course. The Pine Valley & St. Andrews course is a championship course with hilly and tight tree-lined fairways. You will also encounter water on all 18 holes. The undulating greens are guarded tightly with nice bunkers, which come into play on many of the holes. The Audrey & Heatherstone course has similar characteristics, but it's not as demanding. These two nines offer wider fairways and not as much water.

    Touted to be the best public course in the state, this Pete Dye course is well known for the par-4, 438-yard fourth hole. With extremely heavy play, the greens become rough and bumpy as the season progresses. Every hole presents a unique challenge.

    It's a tough course that offers excellent par-5s and long par-4s. Water comes into play on 13 holes. The greens present many opportunities for three-putts. Other amenities include lockers, showers, tennis, racquetball, and health club.

  • Good Park Municipal Golf Course

    The course challenges the player's ability to work the ball. Subtle fairways and always-present trees can render a good score a disaster.
